The Yucca Pavilion

The Yucca Pavilion is an intervention proposal for the unincorporated community of Greenville in Plumas County, California after devastating wildfires in 2021. The idea of a building as a water sponge is born - able to absorb water in times of surplus and excrete water in times of pressure to aid the emergency services.
Combining both culture and functionality, the kinematic canopy represents local Maidu basket weaving and patternwork, whilst simultaneously serving as a platform to capture rain water and solar power.
